John Huguenard

Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences

Dr. Huguenard is a Professor of Neurology & Neurological Sciences and Neurosurgery at Stanford University, with a courtesy appointment in Molecular and Cellular Physiology. He is a member of Bio-X, the Maternal & Child Health Research Institute, and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. His research focuses on the development of excitatory connections in the neocortex, particularly the alterations of AMPA receptors during the early postnatal period, as well as the molecular pharmacology of inhibitory GABA-A receptors in the thalamus. Dr. [Name] has held several administrative roles, including Director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program and Chair of the Neuroscience Program Admissions Committee. He has received numerous honors, including the Javits Merit Award from NINDS/NIH and recognition as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). His work also explores the roles of neuropeptides in regulating thalamic and cortical function, the reorganization of neocortical connectivity following injury, and the regulation of pre- and postsynaptic function by specific GABA-B receptors.
