2011 Faculty Recruitment
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University School of Medicine has an opening for a full-time, tenure-track position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR rank for studies of biological signaling at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and systems levels. Within this broad scope, research areas of special interest include but are not limited to: receptors, channels and transporters; cell, tissue and neural circuit assembly and function; intra- and intercellular communication; and computational approaches to link function across organizational levels from molecules to whole organisms.
Outstanding scientists with a strong record of original research accomplishment are encouraged to apply. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The individual filling this position will play a major role in the research, teaching and predoctoral training programs of the Department.
Stanford's Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology offers a highly interdisciplinary and collegial environment for basic biomedical research, with state-of-the-art research resources and unparalleled opportunities for scientific collaboration. Outstanding expertise in nearly every area of biology, mathematics, physical science, and engineering is present in the Stanford community at large. The department faculty members are: AT Brunger, KC Garcia, MB Goodman, B Kobilka, RS Lewis, DV Madison, M Maduke, M Nachury, WJ Nelson, SJ Smith, T Südhof, and WI Weis. Current research interests of the faculty include the structure, function, and physiological roles of ion channels, receptors and other signal transduction proteins, membrane trafficking, epithelia and immune cells, and neural cells, synapses, and circuits.
